All proceeds from the Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival’s quilt raffle, together with the earnings from the Bridgeport Hospital Auxiliary's gift shop, support capital projects such as the Emergency Department and Burn Unit renovations, nursing scholarships, grants to promote community education and wellness and a panoply of other programming.
Raffle Grand Prize is a magnificent 58" x 58" hand-appliquéd and hand-quilted “Special Stars” Quilt designed and created by Fairfield Artist Cecily Zerega for the Christmas Tree Festival. Made of over 1100 pieces with 14 different reds and 5 different cream colors, this is a true work of art. Zerega, a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, has focused on textiles for many years and has been designing quilts for the Christmas Tree Festival since the inception of the Festival. Her work has also been displayed in many venues and has benefited a wide variety of good causes.
Second Prize is a family photo session and a 16' x 20' canvas wrap from Capitol PhotoInteractive in Fairfield with a value of $525.
Third Prize is a dinner for 6 from Catering by Greystone, created by Chef Fred Kasowitz, a preeminent caterer, valued at $300.
The Auxiliary is currently focusing its efforts to funding the renovation of SurgEase, the outpatient surgery center at Bridgeport Hospital. It is also funding a water wall of healing that is being installed in lobby at Bridgeport Hospital.
The Auxiliary provides mini-grants to fund smaller projects, including a grant to Outpatient Wellness for fighting childhood obesity. Since its founding, the Auxiliary has provided financial support to every capital project and to each department at the hospital. Many Auxiliary members are also active volunteers who contribute their time and energy in patient care and support areas of the hospital.
